CY6Check Your Six

About

The name is an instruction

“Check your six” is what pilots say to each other about the direction nobody can see — six o’clock, directly behind. You do not check your own six. Somebody else does it for you, continuously, while you fly.

That is the entire idea of this company. You run the firm. The things that could quietly undo it — a failing backup, a dormant account, an unpatched machine, a convincing invoice — are behind you, and somebody is watching them.

What we believe

Four things we will not trade away

Plain language, always

If we cannot explain a recommendation to an owner in two sentences, we do not understand it well enough to charge for it. No acronym goes unexplained on a call with you.

Evidence over assurance

Anyone can say a system is backed up. We would rather show you the date of the last test restore. Where we cannot evidence something, we say so.

No fear selling

There is a whole industry built on frightening owners into buying. We would rather show you what covered looks like and let you compare it to what you have.

Small on purpose

You will speak to people who know your firm's name without looking it up. That is only possible at a certain size, and we would rather stay useful than get large.

Who you get

A small team, not a call centre

Work is delivered by the same people each time, escalation goes to someone who already knows your environment, and nothing important gets handed to a stranger reading from a script.

  • 30+ years

    Combined experience across the team

Across managed technology, security operations and the kind of small-firm work where one person owns a problem end to end.

  • 12 years

    Cybersecurity and IT support, principal

The person you will be dealing with, and whose name is on the proposal you receive.

  • Several states

    Where our technicians are

If one is near you, they come to you, and travel is charged on distance rather than per visit. If there is nobody in your area when you join, finding one becomes our problem rather than yours — it happens behind the scenes and you are not asked to wait for it.

  • 200+

People in the security operations centre we work through

Analysts, engineers and developers, around the clock across three continents. A firm our size cannot staff that alone and we are not going to pretend otherwise — we partner for it, which is how a practice of fifteen gets eyes on an alert at four in the morning.

The straight answer

Why there are no photographs on this page

Because we give the same advice to clients. A published list of names, faces and job titles is the raw material for a convincing impersonation, and the firms we work for are targeted precisely that way — an email from someone who appears to know exactly who reports to whom.

It would be inconsistent to tell a managing partner to think about their firm’s public footprint and then hand ours over for marketing. So you get the numbers above, which you are welcome to test in conversation, and a real name and face on the proposal when we send you one.

If you want to know exactly who you would be working with before that point, ask. We will tell you — we just will not publish it for anyone drafting a phishing email to read first. That includes telling you which parts of the operation are ours and which are partnered, because you should not have to work that out yourself.

Want to know if we are a fit?

Twenty minutes on a call is usually enough for both of us to tell. If we are not the right people for your firm, we will say so and point you somewhere better.
